- Look over the whole screen on each color. Esc exits.
Reading the results
A dot that stays dark on every color is probably a dead pixel. A dot that stays red, green, blue or white on black is a stuck pixel. Dust looks similar but moves when you wipe. Nothing is detected automatically; you’re the inspector.
Fixes
Check the same spot with another video source to rule out the graphics card or cable.
On a new monitor, photograph the defect and check the seller’s return window and the maker’s pixel policy. Don’t press on the panel.
FAQ
What is a stuck pixel vs a dead pixel?
A dead pixel stays dark. A stuck pixel stays lit in one color. Stuck pixels sometimes recover; dead ones rarely do.
Does this dead pixel checker repair the screen?
No. It shows solid colors so you can find defects. It doesn’t flash or try to fix pixels.
Can I check dead pixels on a phone?
Yes. Some phones keep the status bar visible, so check both orientations.
How many dead pixels qualify for a replacement?
It depends on the maker and seller. Check the pixel policy for your exact model.
