Using the stick drift test

  1. Connect the controller by USB or Bluetooth and press any button so the browser picks it up.
  2. Move each stick in a full circle, let go, and keep your hands off for a few seconds.
  3. Set the deadzone to the value your game uses and see whether the dots rest inside the rings.

Reading the results

Left and Right are how far each stick sits from center at rest, as a percentage of full travel. Peak is the highest value since you last reset it, so reset after letting go. The deadzone ring is only drawn here; it doesn’t change your controller or games. On controllers without the standard mapping, the axes may not be the sticks.

Fixes

Try a cable instead of Bluetooth, update the controller firmware, and close remapping apps such as Steam Input while testing.

A small, steady offset can be hidden with a slightly larger deadzone in the game. If the drift keeps growing, check the warranty before opening the controller or spraying cleaner into the stick.

FAQ

Can I test PS5 and Xbox controller drift?

Yes, in any browser that supports gamepads. If Bluetooth doesn’t show up, try USB.

What is a good deadzone?

The smallest value that stops movement while the stick rests. Move the slider here until both dots sit inside the rings.

Why is my controller not detected?

Press a button after connecting and keep this tab in front. Try USB, and close apps that take over the controller.

Can this fix stick drift?

No. It only shows what the sticks report. A deadzone hides small drift in games; a worn stick needs repair or replacement.

Why are my stick axes in the wrong place?

Only controllers with the standard mapping put the sticks on axes 0–3. The page says so when your controller uses a different mapping.
